Upsidefor Underrated Jobs

According to a company spokesperson, accountant, environmental engineer and human resource manager may not be among the most glamorous careers but they are fulfilling, meaningful professions, placing them on CareerCast's 2015 most underrated jobs list. Other jobs that made the listare multimedia artist, geologist, civil engineer, physiologist andveterinarian.

The landscape for underrated jobs points to favorable hiring outlook in the coming years," notes Kensing. "While they maynot attract much attention, these jobs are often lower stress and can behigh-paying."

The overrated professions were chosen from the Jobs Rated report's list of 200 jobs for their inherent stress, competition and industry volatility and high job turnover. Underrated jobs were identified for their favorable income and environment, and low stress, according to a company announcement. CareerCast is not shy about pointing out the upsides and downsides of the so-called glamour jobs.

¡°Architect has a relatively high projected growth outlook, but the industry¡¯s hiring depends on economic factors more than some other fields. As the recession demonstrated, construction is especially susceptibleto marketplace volatility. Similarly, sales representatives can expect a job market dictated by sometimes unpredictable fiscal factors, adding to the inherent competitiveness of the profession,¡± notes a company spokesperson on its website.

He adds that the hiring outlook for attorneys is fair at10%, but the job market is challenging. An April 2015 New York Times report found recent law school graduates burdened with debt and taking on other work while searching for opportunities in the legal industry. ¡°These are allfactors to consider when evaluating our most overrated jobs. These can beterrific careers, but understand it¡¯s not all glamour or fun."
